How to add DFS link

How to add DFS link

Step 1

Once we have created our root Dfs, we can check this by going to Start and select Programs , after that chooseAdministrative Tools and click Distributed File system.

It should look something like the window shown below :

From here, we have created root directory whereby user who access the folder in your shared folder will be able to see link that we will create here. It is physically the same as network access to shared folder.

Let’s create a Dfs link on a workstation that reside on our network called Los Angeles. We will map the files that reside in Los Angeles.

Step 1

To create a Dfs Link, right click on the Dfs Root that we have created earlier.

Another window will appear as shown below:

Here we provide a name for the link. We called it Mathematical Paper.

Then we provide the path in the Los Angeles workstation that points to the exact location.

\\Los angeles\ENGSONG\sd\applied-mathematic-letter

Step 2

Then click OK to finish.

Step 3

To test this link, goto our Shared folder that we have created earlier. Then you will notice that there’s a folder called Mathematical Papers. By clicking on it you will be directed to Los Angeles folder.
