How to set up printer in Windows 2000

Step 1

To setup a printer in Windows 2000 is relatively easy. Go to Start choose Control Panel and after that click on Printers. From Printers choose Add Printer

Printer setup wizard will be display as shown below:

Step 2

Click Next to continue.

There are 2 options here, to configure your Printer locally or use a Network Printer.

Step 3

For our purpose here, click on "Next" to continue.

This options here let’s you specify your Printer port that you have connected your printer to.

Step 4

Click on LPT1 if you attached your printer to this port. Click Next to continue.

This is the dialog box where we determine the Printer to use.

Step 5

Click Next to continue.

Step 6

You can choose to name your printer. We leave it as default. Click on Next to continue.

Step 7

In order for sharing printer you need to click on Share As and provide a name for it. Then you need to provide a location and comment for printer that you have just created.

Step 8

The details are provided just like shown above and click on Next to continue. Later the wizard will prompt and state whether you want to do a test page.

Step 9

Here we choose No and click Next to continue. Then the details of our printer will be shown below.

Step 10

Click on Finish to wrap it up.
