How to add Modem in Windows 2000

    Step 1

    To add modem in Windows 2000, go to Start and select Control Panel. After that choose Modem. A dialog box will appear as shown below.

    Step 2

    Click on Add to register your modem into Windows 2000. A wizard will appear as illustrated below:

    Step 3

    Click on Next to allow Windows 2000 to detect your modem automatically otherwise check on Don’t Detect my modem; I will select it from a list. By choosing this, a list of modem vendor that is available will be displayed

    Step 4

    If your modem is not in the list, then you direct Windows 2000 to search for the driver for your modem from another source eg. Floppy , Disk supplied by your vendor. Otherwise select the driver and click Next to continue. Here we have selected Standard 19200 bps modem.

Step5

The wizard will then prompt us which port have we configured the modem to. Click on COM1 and click Next to continue.
